The Bazaar Committee is responsible for organizing the annual fundraising event.
Dr Micah Amd was deeply moved after coming across our work via social media (Facebook), and wanted to help in any way that he could. Micah attempts to come weekly to converse with select residents. His running goal is to identify dispositional issues that adversely effect those residents, then work with staff members to develop behavioural strategies to address said issues.
Dr Amd moved to Fiji from Brazil in June 2019, and is a lecturer in Psychology at the University of the South Pacific.
These ladies have been volunteering at the Home for many years.
Noa Tareguci became attached to the residents while working as a volunteer caregiver at the Home in 2019. He is now working in the private sector, but attempts to spend time with the residents on Saturdays.
Noa conducts dance exercises, helps with arts and crafts, converses with the residents and provides care to male residents. He also takes some residents on outings occasionally.
Noellie Garand has a genuine interest in people. She attempts to come every fortnight to converse, read or run small activities with the residents.
She says: “It is an honour and a pleasure to contribute to this wonderful nursing home for the needy and underprivileged. The residents have so many stories to share! We always have a very good time together.”
